Description
Abstract
Sands, as defined by BOEM, are the base hydrocarbon accumulations in GOM3. Sands can be made up of multiple reservoirs. They do not have to be in hydrodynamic dynamic communication throughout the sand. BOEM geologists calculate estimated reserves. Fields are the union of the sands. All sands in a field of a particular play or subseries and deposition on environment make up a pool. Sands are mapped around the producing completions that BOEM has assigned to the sand. A mechanical algorithm increases the lateral extent around the completions to match the acreage defined by BOEM, while moving away from dry boreholes passing by at the depth of the sand. In 3D, sands follow these outlines laterally but follow the vertical height of the completions assigned to the sand.
Purpose
Analysis for oil and gas exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico.
