Abstract

The Well Log Locations dataset provides locations for all the available well logs in the Gulf of Mexico. All well logs released are available to download or, in the case of digital logs, to view in the browser. In the case of digital logs, the longest, deepest and deepest penetrating curves are used for geologic and geophysical logs, mud logs and mechanical logs. These displays in the browser are interactive to see the curve values and zoom in on the logs. Extra context, such as paleo observations, completion intervals, geomarkers, mud weights, shoe tests and casing programs are also shown, when available. Shazam uses AI pattern recognition to discern portions of wells more or less likely to have oil and gas by training on the portion of all logs that have a completion interval. New logs can be inserted into Shazam to efficiently identify the best portions of well logs to improve petrophysical work.
